On 28th February, Barry Cooper joined Green Party MP Caroline Lucas outside Parliament to directly challenge the government on their cuts to local council funding.  He states, “ Our whole community is being seriously affected by the cuts in funding to Redbridge Council. Older and disabled people are being afffected by cuts to Adult Social Care and young people are being affected by lack of school resources to aid learning, poorly paid teachers and a lack of youth services. If elected as a councillor for South Woodford, I will continue tackling these issues as a matter of urgency."

Many residents in South Woodford have bought up the issue of the lack of school funding, lack of play areas for children and lack of youth centres. This is an issue all too common across the country as cuts to local government funding are taking a serious toll.

Local campaigner Barry adds “Whilst I welcome the Mayor of London’s ‘Young Londoners Fund’ and the fact that the Council are trying to plug the lack of central government funding with a planned council tax rise, unfortunately these are just temporary sticking plasters."
