Activists outside Smithfield
On Saturday, thousands of activists attended the National Animal Rights March in London to call for justice for animals and for urgent action from corporations and the government to end the human use and abuse of animals - with a message of animal liberation, unity and hope for the future.
The march started and ended at Smithfield Market and passed Unilever, Cargill and the Marine Stewardship Council, all of which historically have a record of animal exploitation and abuse.
Millions of animals are exploited, endure unbelievable suffering and killed every day for food, for vivisection, for fur, hunted and used for entertainment. And all are absolutely unnecessary. It is time for this cruelty to stop and move towards a more compassionate world.
